studioTECHNE’s Vision for Notre Dame College Library’s Design

Central to the design of this 24-hour library facility will be first floor common areas where students can meet to study. Here you'll find the Falcon Cafe and public computers where you can do online research or utilize the library's public wireless internet.
The first floor commons is also home to the school book store, student art gallery, reading room, and study rooms - with the collection distributed across the remainder of the first floor and lower levels. Above, the second floor serves as a dedicated learning center where students can utilize the computer labs and connect to their colleagues across the world in the media presentation room.
We focused our design efforts to develop space for students, faculty, and community members to meet and connect; and as a result, the building project transformed what was once a an under-utilized space into a center for learning, community-building, and student life.
