What is the Heights Knowledge and Innovation Center?

Located in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, The Heights Knowledge and Innovation Center is part of the Cleveland Heights - University Heights (CHUH) Library System. CHUH's vision is to "be a progressive and adaptive center of the community, connecting people to each other, to their neighborhoods, and to the world. 

Heights Knowledge and Innovation Center Renovation Needs

studioTECHNE assisted in the development and design of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Library, helping CHUH make a financial and tangible commitment through the construction of a major library building. Following this step, the library would need to serve the community for decades to come. 

The Design Challenge

Typically, a new building should be designed to fulfill the users' needs for at least twenty years; and in reality, most buildings must serve their purpose for a much longer period of time. In order for the building to continue to function effectively, the structure and it's layout needed to incorporate elements to facilitate flexibility and adaptability over time. 

Our Design Solution

Now a flexible. 4,000 square foot co-working space designed to support local businesses, we fitted the Heights Knowledge and Innovation center with an improved computer lab, workstations, meeting rooms, study rooms, and a digital media lab.
