Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge Project
About Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge Project
The Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge is located in Arlington, Virginia. The award winning pedestrian bridge, also known as a pedestrian walkway is an enclosed walkway that links the Ballston Quarter, Ballston Exchange, the metro, and the surrounding city. The Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge project was created to serve the community’s needs and goals. In order to achieve this, the architects, the city’s residents, business owners, and concerned citizens needed to collaborate and understand each other.
Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge Design
The Ballston Exchange bridge's beautiful design blends function and artistic expression from its ceiling to its floors. The Ballston Bridge has utilized steel tubes to support the undulating zinc roof, a surrounding glass curtain wall to enclose the area, and ceilings with a wood-like appearance. Inside are custom-designed benches, perfect for taking a rest on the way from one location to another.
As a result of hard work and collaboration, the new Ballston Pedestrian Bridge is finished and is currently serving its purpose of creating a vital link between many major parts of the city. The pedestrian bridge now serves as an iconic civic architecture presence in the heart of Arlington Virginia’s Ballston neighborhood.
